Return from Lac Fauvel Birdwatching

A lonely A.T. set off on the 7:00 am train from Vendome Station, but rather than doing the advertised ride north from St Jerome to Val David he decided to do some bird watching at Lac Fauvel then ride back to Montreal.  First stop was a cafe in Ste Therese.

Lac Fauvel is a popular bird-watching location on the Seigneurie-des-Plaines Bike Path.

It was a successful bird watching trip. 11 different species photographed 4 of which were added to by Ebird life long list.  The four new additions from Lac Fauvel were:

1. The Spotted Sandpiper

I also learned that not all Spotted Sandpipers are spotted.

2. Eastern Wood-Pewee

3. Baltimore Oriole

4. Bank Swallow

It was a great day for the numbers. Five new bird species brings the life long list to 43. (I took some photos of pigeons in Jeanne Mance Park, which counts as a first).  Plus the 87 km ride back to Montreal squeezes in to raise my Eddington Number up to 53.  It doesn't get better than that.
