Epic East End Ride

The weather was perfect, the train to Ste-Thérèse ... 7:02am at Vendôme ...was on time and our peloton of 6 was in good spirits. At some point A.T. Lane mentioned “100 kms and home by 6:00” and there was a ripple of hesitation. Louis Rubenstein speculated how a man would one day be launched to the moon but a comfortable bike seat would remain elusive. Birdie Munger wondered how he could make his 6:00pm dinner invitation. G.T. Bishop wondered why anyone would eat dinner that early!

Our ride took us along the superb multi-use paths of Blainville, Ste-Anne-des-Plaines and Terrebonne and into historic Vieux Terrebonne for lunch. We crossed onto Ile Jésus on the Rte 125 bridge over Rivière des Mille Îles and entered a land with glimpes of old rural Quebec while on our way to the eastern tip of the island. From there we hugged the southern shore of Laval
to St-Vincent- de- Paul and cycled west to the Pie IX Bridge over Rivière des Prairies and on to île de la Visitation, and home.

Birdie’s odometer logged 98km. G.T.’s Map-My-Ride registered 85km. All six of us were happy with our looooong rides.
