30 May 2023 Ferry to the Sherbrooke REV Eastern leg

Four members of the MBC met at Ma Bicyclette for an excursion on the Pointe aux Trembles ferry. Frankie gave the first in person account of the recent Danube excursion. A.T. explained that he thought it would be fun to ride from the Eastern Tip of the Island along the Sherbrooke REV e. "We can try it and if any mutinies develop we head North or South to Gouin or Notre Dame" he explained. Frankie and Amos were game to try, Dorothy thought better of it and decided to ride to the ferry dock only.

Once on board the ferry they headed down river past some familiar MBC landmarks.

Once ashore, they prepared for the long ride ahead.

They traveled east along some different versions of REV.

Eventually coming to the Gnomes that guard the Eastern Tip of the Island.

They then turned to west and started to mark the Eastern leg ot the Sherbrooke REV.  Amos pointed out that perhaps if there was more bike traffic in the area, DQ might even return.

Everyone seemed to enjoy posing in front of REV e posters.

The present bike path along Sherbrooke has tremendous variety.

Soon it was time for lunch.

Back in the saddle we noticed that not all of Sherbrooke Street has sidewalks.  At least they keep the street clean.

Gradually the street assumed a more urban look.

It even has some bike infrastructure.

We marked off some key intersections.

And discussed whether some urban features were green by design, or neglect. (note the Xmas lights)

The Eastern leg of Sherbrooke has some dedicated bus lanes and some very wide sidewalks.

Along with a great number of Bixis.

And poster opportunities abound....

Soon Amos had to split off.  He went down St Denis and saw an interesting sight.

Frankie and A.T. returned through the downtown along the traditional bike route.

It was quite the day of exploration!!!
