Exploring the Turot's Eastern Approaches

Dorothy Cole, H.S. Tibbs and A.T. Lane met at the Shaika Cafe and discussed plans to explore the bicycle paths being built at the Turcot.

They rode over to the MUHC, and peered over the fence at the path below.

It was a Sunday morning, during Quebec construction holiday, they decided to make a break for it.....

At first the going was easy, on a paved path waiting to be opened....

Soon the pavement changed to gravel....

and ran alongside the railway tracks towards Montreal Ouest.

Eventually there a is a ramp alongside a retaining wall that allows access to the Turcot's Western Approach.

We rode over to the new bridge being built that crosses Highway 20.

Then over to the new connecting path on Brock Ave.

Then looked at the extreme western connections at Ronald Park.

Then took the regular route to the Lachine Canal path via Dollard Ave.

Then took a look at the connection from the Lachine Canal to the Southern end of the new bridge over highway 20.

Dorothy then met up with one of her many admirers, while A.T. departed for home early in order to be in time for lunch.

H.S. Tibbs found an animation on driving the finished Turcot, it can be viewed here:
