August 27, 2021  Ste. Thérese and the Oka Ferry

Houray! The heat wave is over! A.T. Lane, Louis Rubenstein, G.T.Bishop. Dorothy Cole, Ruth and Elizabeth travelled by EXO to Ste.Thérese.

The handy ticket booth on the Vendôme platform was kaput so a quick jaunt into the station was in order.

Ruth and Elizabeth settled in for the journey.

The best way to start a perfect day- excellent coffee and croissants at Café les Allumé(e)s.

Leaving the centre of town, we rode along Chemin de la Grande Côte, enjoying views of the Rivière des Milles îles.

We did not disturb the geese on the dock.

But, nevertheless stopped for the requisite group photo.

Crossing into Laval-Ouest, we rode by wetlands.

And the beach on the “Riviera” in Laval.

We entered Deux Montagnes by the barrage du Grand Moulin

The REM station is under construction there stimulating a discussion about bicycle access on the REM.

Free Yoga classes are offered near this lake at Pointe-Calumet

A short hike beckoned in Oka Park to the tower overlooking the marsh.

A good time for lunch.

The boardwalk is gone from the marsh.

Perhaps it will be restored.

Using other muscles we rejoined the park road.

Sticky asphalt or road? Road prevailed.

The Ferry was loading at Oka when we arrived.

A rather scruffy-looking great blue heron on the Hudson shore

A.T.Lane snapped this photo of Louis, Ruth, and Elizabeth at the Dorion EXO station .

A.T., G.T. Bishop and Dorothy Cole continued on their bikes to Montreal.

Ahhh! Beer and burgers at a boardwalk bistro in Ste. Anne de Bellevue

Some are leaving town for other places.

Others have come to stay!

Pleasantly fatigued the intrepid three parted ways on the Lachine Canal path.

Total distance 100 km.  From Ste.Thérese to Dorion 55 km.
