17 December 2022 Falaise Xmas Bird Count

 As part of Bird Canada's Christmas Bird Count 5 members of the Montreal Bicycle Club set forth in a snow storm to count birds on our favorite urban nature site, the Falaise St Jacques.

There were quite a few trees that had fallen under the weight of the snow which no doubt will lead to more He Man work clearing the ski trails before the annual New Year's Day snowshoe / ski.

The birds, although present, seemed to have hunkered down in the snow and were difficult to spot.

 The results of the count were given to Bird Canada and posted on eBird.  Despite the large number of spotters the resulting count was not higher than typically found on earlier counts.

 After walking the length of the trail, the group relaxed with a beer  at the nearby Brasserie Manoir.
