14 August 2023 The Three Wise Men

The ride began at 7 am, Aug 14, 2023, aboard the St-Jérôme train. The first to arrive was legendary path finder G T Bishop who got on downtown. Re-founding fathers AT Lane and Louis Rubenstein joined in at Vendome and Mo-West respectively.

We all alit at Ste-Therese and had coffee and croissant breakfasts at the local restaurant across the street from the Prohibition terrace. The usual ride eastward to Ste-Anne-des-Plaines and environs was overruled and we headed north and then west toward St-Eustace through a very pleasant and scenic ride that was punctuated by numerous day camp sightings of pre-teen kids being shepherded by slightly older councillors.

Around noon we stopped at Tim Hortons for lunch but were disappointed at the non-reusable coffee mugs - but were otherwise satisfied. We discussed topics of nautical miles, sextants, longtitude, latitude, North Star - all very baffling to me so I was pleased to be among such expertise!
A very zig-zaggy section followed through 2 new REM stations and then over to Ile-Bizard we had an ice cream break at the Jollipop. Various train/exo/REM topics were discussed. The enjoyable but unpredictable up, down, around continued unabated continued to Henri-Bourassa and O'Brien when the trio split up. GT went one way while AT and Louis headed to the Côte-Verto metro and home. Approx cycling distance was 62 km.
