August 22 l'Île-de-la-Visitation

Daisy Bell, Kirkpatrick McMillan, Alfred Welsey Sherritt, A.T. Lane and Johanna met at the traditional MBC Fixture's starting point, the Shaika Cafe for a ride advertised as l'Île-de-la-Visitation.

As usual, the directions and purpose of the ride were somewhat vague.  First we passed by Ste Catherine Street, which has recently been made completely car free.

This presented a group shot photo opportunity at the location of Carnival House.

We continued along Ste Catherine, then headed North past a familiar watering hole.

Much of the trip north was along the new Christophe Coulomb path.

Near the entrance to the park, H.S. Tibbs pointed out to the group the long history of L'Église de la Visitation de la Bienheureuse-Vierge-Marie, the oldest church on the island of Montreal.

After a  short ride along the river, we stopped for lunch, then some views of Rivière-des-Prairies.

On the return trip we stopped by the former Miron Quarry, now parc Frédéric-Back.

The group broke up as people headed home in different directions.  The lucky ones were treated to beer at Johanna's backyard garden.
