Grosbois Island

Daisy Bell, G.T. Bishop, Velocio and Kirkpatrick Macmillan set out for Grosbois Island via the Champlain Bridge.  With slight overcast skies and a comfortable 22 degrees the ride to Boucherville took approximately 2.5 hours.

Enjoyed a superb lunch on the St. Laurent cafe patio.  A small ferry took us to the island where well maintained bike paths are bordered by trees, marshes and other vegetation made for a varied circuit.  Witnessed deer feeding, birds and a beaver dam.

An archaeological site featuring an Iroquois longhouse and site was the highlight of the trip.  One can also rent out yurt-like tents from Huttopia for overnight stays. The return ride was through Longueuil and over the Jacques Cartier Bridge.  The total kilometres about 80.  Overall, an enjoyable day.
