Prime waterfront property in Montreal

Dorothy Cole and A.T. Lane met at the Shaika Cafe and planned their route out for the day.  There was a slight drizzle of rain and the forecast was for it to increase, it had to be short, yet interesting.

They went down the yet to be opened, bike path on St Jacques, then the secret connection to Courcelle.

Rather than take the usual path along the Lachine Canal, they rode on Notre Dame looking for traces of the short lived experiment of a single traffic lane a few days earlier.

2 August 2020, Notre Dame Street, short lived experiment of single lane of traffic

Saddened by the quick demise of this experiment in reducing car volumes we continued on to see some areas of the city where the car now rules supreme.

First stop was the Irish Memorial Rock commemorating a Typhoid epidemic mass  grave at the entrance to the Victoria Bridge.  It is located within a traffic island above the grave site.

Nearby Victoriatown's WW2 monument, is all that remains of that bulldozed town.

The two explorers started to wonder. Is it possible to bike under the Victoria Bridge and along the riverfront?  We decided to try and find out.

Yes it is possible, eventually it connects to a yet to be opened bike path with excellent facilities.

Returning to established paths, we continued on to Wellington Street for a final stop before the rain.
