22 March 2021 Falaise St Jacques ditch construction progress

Rather than the promised wetland, the MTQ is making tremendous progress on the new ditch for the Eco Territory Falaise St Jacques.

On a happier note, our count of the number of bird species seen in the Falaise went up by one to a total of 11 today as the Hairy Woodpecker was added to the spreadsheet.  I learned today that tail color, as well as size is a way to tell the Hairy from the Downy.

Downy Woodpecker, smaller with some black stripes on white tail feathers.

Hairy Woodpecker, larger with no black stripes on white tail feathers.
