Late August Canoeing

A small group of six set out in late August on a three day canoe trip at lac du Poisson Blanc.   It is north of Ottawa in Quebec.   It is a long irregular shaped lake that has many islands and bays, rock climbing faces, small beaches, and a mature mixed forest.   Three of the six are MBC members, two of whom are founding members.

The set-off point was near the small village of Notre Dame de Laus.   The paddle out to the camp site was not difficult even though it was through a heavy rain shower.    The tents were set in a mature hemlock grove.   The next day proved to be perfect weather.   We took the opportunity to do a hike up a small hill on an island for a great view.   We also explored bays and a rock face.

The last night of the trip had a fantastic rain storm just before dawn.   Actually the tents were taken down in the rain but by the time the paddle back began the weather cleared although the sun never broke through the cloud cover.   It was a great trip.  Vive la compagnie!
