1 November 2022 Falaise - St Henri
The MBC met at Ma Bicyclette on a damp day for a ride somewhere in Montreal. G.T mentioned checking out an area of St Henri and A.T. commented on visiting the Canadian Center for the Great War which is located there. Unfortunately a quick check on the hours revealed that it is only open on Saturdays between 11:30 and 2:00 pm. While in France, A.T. had noticed that the CCGW was involved in the running of the Vimy Memorial. He also read that the Memorial, which is located near highway between London and Paris receives 250,000 visitors a year. However, unlike Giverny, there is no shuttle between it and any nearby train station and as such was not visited by A.T. and Queen Victoria during their recent trip to France. After enough coffee we decided to ride out the CCGW to show all the members where it is located.
We stopped along the way to discuss the potential for a MBC clubhouse on top of a grain silo.
After some searching of 5524 St Patrick, (a very large former industrial building), we found that the CCGW is located in room 202, although that information is not displayed on any of the room index number signs.....(good to know for next time).
We continued the western entrance of the Bande Verte. G.T. suggesting that we make entrance signs that show maps of the area as there are very few people are aware of all that is there.
A.T. tested the air pump by the entrance and found that it is not functional. The only functional public air pump in the Montreal area seems to be the one in Ste Anne des Plaines.
