Salon du Vélo

G.T. Bishop and A.T. Lane met for a winter cycle through Montreal to the Salon du Vélo at the Olympic Stadium.

En route to the Salon du Vélo
Along the way they noticed a skating race in progress at parc Maisonneuve.

Upon arrival at the Olympic Stadium they searched for bike parking near the entrance to the Salon du Vélo. then stopped for some photos of that famous bicycle brand Lamborghini.

There was also a entrance display of the danger zones around large trucks.  On most Montreal streets these zones would extend 2 blocks in every direction.

The actual show was a mixture of information about potential bike tours, cycle manufacturers and accessories.

We wandered about the touring locations sections for a while, noting that past tours such as Lac St Jean, Simcoe County, even Budapest had a display.  Future planned trips to Virginia, Lake Champlain, and les Îles de la Madeleine also had spokespersons to promote each possibility.

After a while we became separated and A.T. headed back home.  He stumbled upon a march regarding climate change / pipelines and rail blockades along the way.

  1. What was of particular note was the large number of e-bikes on offer, far outweighing the traditional, expensive carbon fibre racing bikes that usually are found at these shows. If anyone is interested, there is an actual test track that people can use to try out one of these bikes.

It is interesting to note that bikes that people actually use to ride around the city were nowhere to be seen at the show.
