June 10, 2021 Sociable Mont Royal loop test ride

A.T. Lane, piloting the Sociable, aka Tri-shaw, met Dorothy Cole and Louis Rubenstein at Shaika Café for a test ride to Mount Royal.

Louis declined the invitation to be a second passenger. He accompanied A.T. and Dorothy along the de Maisonneuve bike path on his bike until Guy street. Dorothy was thankful for the “memory cushion”.  Without it the rough path would be intolerable! After carefully wending through the construction areas downtown they arrived at the Jacques Cartier monument on Park Ave.

Heading up through the lush canopy on Olmstead Road they attracted some encouraging looks from walkers. One obligingly snapped a photo of us.

The gravel, though noisy is smoother than the pavement downtown. Dorothy had a short lesson on piloting and A.T. became the passenger. She decided she would need more practice before taking on a long journey. A.T. commented that the vehicle performed well on the steeper pitches up to the Chalet.

A pleasant break with an excellent cappuccino from Café des Amis capped the ride. The return via Beaver Lake to Côte-Des-Neiges Road and through Westmount completed the loop.

Dorothy acknowledged the smiles from the car drivers  on Westmount Avenue with a cheery wave! A picnic ride up to Mount Royal will certainly be added to the Sociable Rides menu!
