Lachine via the Bande Verte
A.T. and Dorothy met at the Shaika Cafe for a "ride about town". We decided that on this very hot weekend, it meant doing some exploration of the Bande Verte while the construction workers were away.
Having satisfied their curiosity as to how that construction was coming along. They felt compelled to examine the western edges of the Falaise and how it could connect to Meadowbrook and the town of Lachine.
West of the Bande Verte is a mixture of newly constructed bike paths and untouched roads beside the railroad tracks. They lead to the decision point.
To take the tunnel to Ville St Pierre or explore the bicycle wilderness of north of Autoroute 20?
Being adventurous that day, we choose the northern wilderness.... which ultimately leads to a dead end at the rail yards.
Returning to the familiar Ville St Pierre - Lachine Canal - Town of Lachine bike route we decided to make a Cafe on Wellington street in Verdun our destination. As an bold experiment in Urban design, this year, 2021, the City of Montreal has decided to allow bicycles on some of its pedestrianized streets such as Wellington! Hopefully this proves a success and cyclists will be permitted to visit the beach legally....
Fully caffeinated, we continued on to Atwater Market then split to go our separate ways home.
