23 June Mont Ste Hilarie
After meeting at the Shaika Cafe, we headed to Westmount High
School, / WAG Grounds formerly the M.A.A.A. Grounds, for a Malcolm photo session, for his project
on rewriting history.
That done, we set off on our ride along the newly
liberated St Catherine St. then onto the Jacques Cartier bridge.
As G.T. Bishop observed, the is a distinctively heavier police presence, on bike and
cruisers , than the west end of town. Even A. T. Lane stopped at the red
lights! Now on the south shore, we passed by the St Hubert Airport and
over to the Richelieu River, after several water stops as the
temperature rose.
We passed through McMasterville, with its
stately homes facing the river, then over the bridge to
Mont-Sainte-Hilaire. With the combination of heat and a steep hill, we
opted for lunch at a funky burger joint. Revived, we rode a short
distance to the train station and took a relaxing and most welcome ride
back to Montreal.
