Flavours of Montreal - May 20 - Chinese Cuisine

From Allo Velo we quickly made our way to the East Gate of Chinatown.

We parked our bikes on the side of the Chinese Catholic Church and continued on a walking tour.

We strolled through a very peaceful garden on the inside of the condo gates. (Sorry no photo available).

We inspected the Wing Building which originally was built for military purposes. It was a Military Training Academy and is now a noodle factory as far as we know.

Hunger ensued so we stopped for dumplings.  We learned that extra time has to be allotted for ordering.

MMMM. They sure were good - so maybe worth the wait?? For some of us it was our first taste of bubble tea. Also took a while but went down really well.

Because of time constraints, Dorothy Cole, A.T. Lane and H.S. Tibbs were on their way.  The rest of us continued on to the South Gate. On the way we stopped to watch a young fellow work the dough to make noodles. Fascinating.

The plaque situated on the east column of the gates explains the significance of the south and north gates. Very interesting.

Daisy Bell finds it interesting that the west and east gates are a lot less ornate than the north and south gates.

This mural in the background is called "May an Old Song Open a New World".

And we can't help but see the ocean in this mural.
We stopped for fresh lychee nuts - which was a new experience for Daisy Bell and Kirkpatrick Macmillan.  We had dessert consisting of sesame buns and angry bird buns.
