23 July 2022 l’île Saint-Bernard
The weather forecast included a heat warning which led to much discussion about should we go to to the Îles-de-Boucherville which involves a long ride to and from, or l’île Saint-Bernard which is a ferry ride to and from Lachine. The ferry ride won out and after a short ride out along the canal A.T. & Louis were on their way.
Ile St Bernard is a bird bird sanctuary on the South Shore. We took our bikes so that they could enjoy the ferry ride as well. The rest of the fixture was a walk around the island taking pictures of whatever wildlife we found.
It started out rather slowly.
But soon the quality of the sightings improved....
Some birds and flora...
Some discussion about whether this is a frog or a toad....
However we quickly determined the bird or plane question ....
Sometimes it was complicated by multiple frogs (or toads)....
It was so hot, Louis had to remove his colors....
The birds did not seem to be bothered by the sight....
The insects as well did not seem at all perturbed ...
After some more red hatted shirtless walking, we came across some familiar birds often seen in the Falaise as well such as the Nuthatch and Chickadee ....
At long last nature called....but we continued walking
At the Northern tip, we saw party boats anchored....
Followed by sightings of mysterious webs, a pirate ship, Louis with colors again, more birds, swamp and other creatures.
Soon it was back on to the 1:15 pm return ferry...
Just in time for a quick cafe stop in Lachine, then the ride home (via The Valley of the Birds)....
Respectfully
A.T. Lane
