19 September 2021 A Sunday Cycle Around Town

The MBC convened Sunday morning at the Shäika Café as is its wont.  The turn-out was very good, seven members.  Since the outing's destinations were rather open it was decided on the fly to add the Bande Verte to the itinerary and drop Île de la Visitation.   Off we went to Montreal West where Dorothy Cole led us by back streets to the western end of the Bande Verte.  After gliding down the ramp we had a most pleasant country road cycle on the Bande Verte pathway.

We then headed eastwards along St Jacques, turning down to the Lachine Canal just before reaching the Old Port. There we took McGill and turned eastwards on Notre Dame, traversing all of Old Montreal.  After the Jacques Cartier bridge we took the parkland pathway along Notre Dame, turning north at Dézéry.  Zig-zagging a bit we were soon at our eastern destination of the Angus Yards and our second home, Mamie Clafoutis.  There we had a light lunch and some members had their superb almond croissants.

At the bar of delights

The return was by the cycling-frenetic Rachel path.  It was exhilarating to be in such a flow of wheels.  At St Urbain we decided to continue straight on and take the carriage road that snakes up the side and around Mont Royal.  At Beaver Lake we headed down onto Côte des Neiges, then onto the Boulevard.  As is usual the group slowly dissolved with each rider heading off on their particular trajectory for home.
