10 July World's Greatest Bicycle Tunnel - Funicular
A.T. had seen an episode of Not Just Bikes which talked about Bergen's World's Greatest Bicycle Tunnel and wanted to ride through the tunnel himself while in the city. Queen Victoria and Miss M.J. Forthingham went together together to the Museum of Decorative Art while he indulged himself.
One of the attractions of riding through the bicycle tunnel is it involves taking a tram to the entrance.
There are some public rental bike docks near the entrance. A.T. quickly downloaded the app and eventually figured out how to rent a bike.
The tunnel is great, it has special colored lighting, a bidirectional bike track and a walking path with some sort of soft foam rubber.
At the mid point of the 3 km tunnel there is a artwork that also functions as a clock.
Exiting the tunnel, A.T. found that there are no rental bike docking stations on the far side. He took the bike with him on the tram back to a station near the Museum of Decorative Art.
Next on the bucket list was ride up the Funicular near the centre of Bergen.
There are goats up in them thar hills!!!
And some very nice restaurants
But we only had time for a quick snack back down below before Miss M.J. Forthingham had to depart to Oslo.
A.T. and Queen Victoria took a early morning plane to Copenhagen the next day then connected on a second plane back to Montreal.
