7 July Arctic Circle - Torghatten Mountain
As the MS Polarlys approached the Arctic Circle (headed Southward) the crew prepared for a ceremony involving the consumption of Cod Liver Oil.
The Polar Circle Globe on Vikingen Island off the coast of Norway marks the location of the Arctic Circle.
A second monument, South of the Polar Circle Globe, commentates the legendary creation of the Torghatten Mountain with a hole that was pierced by an arrow fired by an enraged horseman.
The MS Polarlys docked at Brønnøysund, and we took a bus to the hiking path that leads up the mountain.
The quality of the stonework on the path was superb. The guide informed us that a special contractor based in Nepal had built the path using Sherpa workers.
