27 June - 11 July 2025 The Southbound Hurtigruten Coastal Express

A.T. Lane and Queen Victoria flew form Montreal to Copenhagen on the 26 June en route to the Southbound  Hurtigruten Coastal Express.  The thought of how much carbon emissions this involved bothered both of them and in a minor concession to the planet after leaving their apartment they took the 747 bus to the airport. The flight was direct, so it was slightly better than one involving multiple take off and landings.

27 June Copenhagen Day 1

Arriving in Copenhagen, they quickly passed through the extensive Duty Free and took the metro into town.  Their metro system is quite new, first opened on 2003.  It has many similar features to the Montreal REM,  driver-less cars, platform doors, short length (3 cars vs REM's 4), and fast head times.  The main difference A.T. noticed unlike Montreal, Copenhagen's metro has no turnstiles.

The hotel was near the Copenhagen Central train station, which we got to by metro.  After checking out the station's parking lot we dropped off our bags and had breakfast.

That evening we ate at the nearby Meat Packing District.  It is a revitalized industrial area with a wide variety of trendy restaurants and shops. Queen Victoria's favorite shop was a kitchen supply house.

A.T.'s favorite was Motorious, a place to buy everything needed for a Man Cave.

"These shoes weigh a ton."

On the way back to our hotel we saw another hotel with a trishaw display in the lobby.

As well as an Insect Bridge art display.
